Contraindications

Fotona laser treatments are safe when performed by experts, but may not be recommended in the following cases:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Active skin infections, or open wounds in the treatment area.
  • History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
  • Recent tanning or sunburn.
  • Use of photosensitizing medications.
  • Uncontrolled diabetes, or certain autoimmune conditions.


What to Expect


Before Treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks.
  • Discontinue retinoids, glycolic acid, or harsh exfoliants 5–7 days prior.
  • Inform your dermatologist about medications and medical history.
  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.
  • Expect topical anesthesia application before Er:YAG laser.


After Treatment:

  • Expect mild redness, swelling, or a “sunburn-like” sensation for 1–3 days.
  • Apply prescribed soothing creams and cold compresses if needed.
  • Strict sun protection with SPF 50+ is mandatory.
  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, and vigorous exercise for 48 hours.
  • Do not pick or peel flaking skin during recovery.
  • Multiple sessions may be recommended for best results.
